Here's a step-by-step guide on making your own little dumpling. The only stitch you need to know is running stitch (check out my Stitch Guide for more info).
Materials:
- White fabric (8"x8")
- Scraps of black, pink, and red fabric
- Stuffing
- Thread
Step 1: Cut an 8"x8" circle
Step 2: Do a running stitch all the way around the circle, about 1/4" from the edge.
Step 3: Pull to cinch the fabric.
Step 4: Stuff until full, but not bursting
Step 5: Pull thread to close up the hole. Zig zag across a few times to tighten. Tie and cut.
Step 6: Cut two small circles from black fabric for eyes. Cut two small pill shapes from pink for cheeks. Cut u-shape from red for mouth.
Step 7: Add the face!
Easy method - Use fabric glue to stick all the pieces on
Advanced method - Whipstitch around each piece. Chain stitch mouth.
